Text messaging

Last updated October 3, 2026.

Square Away LLC (3464 Hazelton Ave, Rochester Hills, MI 48307) makes Square Away, project software for small woodworking and cabinet shops. Shops use it to send their own clients text updates about their projects. This page shows how a client says yes to those texts and how they stop them.

What the texts are

Notifications about a project the client asked the shop about: appointment reminders and confirmations, a proposal that's ready to review, an invoice or payment that's due, and project updates. No marketing or promotional texts. Message frequency varies with the project. Message and data rates may apply.

Texts come from the Square Away number and name the shop they're from.

How a client opts in

On a shop's online form or booking page, the moment someone types a phone number, they're asked "Can we text you about your project?" (or "about your appointment" on a booking page). They have to pick Yes or No before the form will send. Picking No is fine: the form still goes through and the number is never texted. Texting is never required to contact a shop.

This is exactly what the client sees:

A shop's form: a phone number field, then the question 'Can we text you about your project?' with Yes and No buttons, and under it: 'Yes means you agree to receive text messages about your project (reminders, confirmations, updates). Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out.'

A shop can also record a client's OK when the client tells them in person, on the phone or by email. The shop's team member and the date are saved with it. Until a client has said yes one of these ways, no text is sent to them.

How to stop or get help
